Launching a new website is fun and exciting. OK, so you have a beautiful, mobile friendly WordPress website and its live for everyone to see on the internet. Congratulations! However, this is just the beginning.

Taking care of your website by keeping up with WordPress maintenance tasks will help keep it running fast, secure, and optimized. It’s an ongoing process that every website owner needs to stay on top of.

1. Better performance

A typical WordPress website uses a database to store all the content, a theme to control the look and feel of your site, and plugins to add functionality. All of these components need to be updated on a regular basis to keep your website running fast and smooth.

It is best practice to delete themes and plugins you’re not actively using.

2. Increased security

WordPress is widely used to build many types of websites; from blogs, to e-commerce stores. Approximately 42% of the web uses WordPress. This makes WordPress a nice juicy target for hackers and malicious people, so you need to keep it as secure as possible to keep the bad guys out, and your users safe.

3. Improved user experience

I’m a big fan of doing small improvements over time. Making small changes, and seeing how it plays out in production. If that last change you made doesn’t add value to your website, get rid of it. Updating your website on a regular basis provides your visitor with the best user experience, and will keep them coming back.

All of this leads to happy customers

This means making sure your website has fresh content, loads really fast, and doesn’t have any technical glitches.

Let’s put this into practice
